Truck Haven

Run Report for Truckhaven, California, November 22 -28, 2006. (approx. 1,100 miles round trip from our house.) Ole and I, and a few good freinds, Jimmy Nylund, Rene Campbell and Johnny Allen, Jr., enjoyed Thanksgiving weekend together. We shared Thanksgiving dinner, which included deep fryed turkey (thanks Johnny), along with all the traditional Thanksgiving trimmings, we ate very well. During the time in Truckhaven, the weather was great, during the day in the 80’s and cooling down to the mid 60’s in the evenings, what a treat for November. We 4-wheeled everyday (oh darn!) on terrain that is very different than any where else we wheel. The terrain is dryed-up seafloor, yes, what years, and years ago was Salton Sea. You have to see it to believe it. The area is very rugged, but does offer alot of challenges for everyone, from the beginner to the most experienced drivers. Great area to wheel, no designated trails, and you’re not too far from civilization. Truckhaven area is where Terra Del Sol Club holds their annual TDS event. It is also close to Ocotillo Wells. Good wheeling was had by all. That’s all I have for now. Respectively submitted, Sherry Stortroen
